A U.S. Senate bill intended to minimize on undesired patent lawsuits has failed this time after months of negotiation between key stakeholders. The bill aimed to discourage so-called patent trolls—companies that amass patents with no intention of making any product and instead generate revenue by filing suits against allegedly infringing firms. But opponents of the bill—including universities and biotech firms—feared the Senate’s offensive against patent predators would make it too costly for legitimate patent holders to protect their claims. One worthy point noting here is, be it Plaintiff or Defendant, as long as if there is a rule that the loser of the case (suit) should borne all the legal charges of the winner of the case, I think the business will keep going!

It will be tried again to bring back and to pass the bill (may be in October this year)
