Google PAX Agreement to Reduce Patent Infringement Cases; Samsung, Foxconn Join in

To Reduce Patent litigation/Patent infringement, Google has now started a new agreement that named as “PAX” (Peace in Latin). This agreement officially named as “Android Networked Cross-License Agreement”. PAX allows others to use their patented property for free, only if they are already member in that group.

This free sharing of patents to others in that group will reduce lawsuits, less troubles for makers and they have more time to concentrate innovations. Because of infringement of IPR, many companies are found making money through lawsuits. This leads to loss of money and time in process.

So PAX ensures firms working with android will be free of cost and also without worry of lawsuit.  This agreement will be beneficial for major like Samsung and Foxconn, but for small companies may not want to give it up for free. Android is open sourced, patents of manufacturers who use the operating system, should also be shared freely.

PAX founding members include Google, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Foxconn Technology Group, HMD Global, HTC, Coolpad, BQ, and Allview. These members own more than 230,000 patents worldwide.
